This position is under the guidance and supervision of the Project Director, the Child Labor Specialist contributes to effective management and implementation of the CHES project. The Child Labor Specialist will take primary responsibility for the capacity building of program staff, partner’s staff and other relevant stakeholder on technical hazardous child labor issues, including international conventions, country laws, USDOL definitions, monitoring, and planned interventions. This will include the development of training curriculum; training stakeholders, monitoring and evaluation of hazardous child labor aspects within the program.
Specific Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Provide high level of sectoral analysis, technical advice and guidance on hazardous child labor issues, at all levels.
· Select, adapt, or develop child labor curricula in collaboration with the government officials for use in the CHES program and continued use with ministries.
· Design and deliver hazardous child labor trainings as well as child labor awareness to program staff, partners and community.
· Design and deliver a community child labor awareness and prevention campaign in coordination with Communications Officer.
· Assist government partner to deliver quality child labor training to labor inspector and other key players.
· Monitor, assess and report on the effectiveness of CHES programs implementation and especially the monitoring of withdrawn and prevented children from hazardous child labor.
· Review and evaluate new and current programs to determine their efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with the USDOL.
· Assess project concepts, design documents and write technical reports as requested and required by the WI HQ, donors and USDOL.
· Liaise closely with the government line ministries, implementing partner staff and with other donor agencies working in the field of child labor and education.
· Represent CHES in various Education and Child Labor Forums.
· Build the technical capacity of CHES partners through transferring skills and knowledge; facilitate access to high quality external sources of advice.
· Strengthen and evaluate monitoring system of children withdrawn and prevented from hazardous child labor, in coordination with the M&E Officer.
· Perform other duties as required consistent with the achievement of program objectives as they develop and change in a dynamic environment.
